Sr. Process Control Engineer – DSM Switzerland (KAU)

Location: KAU, Switzerland

The Challenge

For this challenging position, we are looking for a Process Control Engineer to be part of the Switzerland Large Capital Projects (LCP) department of DSM Switzerland. You will have close contacts with other competence groups (particularly Process, and Safety) in the organization. But predominantly, the “Process Control Engineer” also has extensive contacts with the BG-specialists in EU/China, to ensure feedback and synergy on the practical application of the process control policy and guidelines, which can also be used for future improvements in the LCP Projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work in big and complex chemical production sites within a large organization.

The Position

  • Develop process control concepts, strategies and standards to improve operational efficiency in Large Capital Projects.
  • Work with internal and external engineering teams to implement process control models, strategies, and other methods for ensuring quality output.
  • Develop new standards that incorporate the new/modified control system architecture.
  • Develop and define communication network solutions to integrate different systems in a robust and safe way.
  • Provide process control system support for large capital projects.
  • Implement changes to the process control system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Determine the cost of engineering, labor, equipment and materials for process control in Large capital projects.
  • Assure process control related documentation is regularly developed and maintained.
  • Identify and train resources on process control improvements.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of company, safety, environmental, governmental policies and regulations as they apply.
  • Provide technical expertise in support of Large capital projects, process evaluation, and project modifications.
  • Assist process technology and production teams in the development and programming of control sequences for all system-controlled processes.
  • Process Control engineer actively works a part of the project or as a Project manager when needed.

The Ideal

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in the industry
  • Strong conceptual overview over the full range of process control, also in combination with other disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Process control safety aspects, Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Good knowledge of DCS, PLC, field instrumentation, MES (APC, MPC,)
  • Familiar with the Digitalization and Cybersecurity
  • SHE & CAPEX trained
  • Hands-on experience in various aspects of Process Control installation and commissioning
  • Business English is a must, good language skills in German (written and spoken)
  • Highly motivated, result-oriented and self-driven personality
