Senior Lab Technician – DSM Delft

Hours: 32-40
Salary indication: 41000 - 58000 per year
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Automated StrainEngineering Technician. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of cutting-edge research and development in the field of genetic engineering. You will be responsible for maintaining and operating automated systems for strain engineering and genetic modification and will play a critical role in the development of new and exciting products.

Key-responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate state-of-the-art automated systems for strain engineering and genetic modification
  • Troubleshoot and problem
  • Solve any issues that may arise with the systems
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory guidelines
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop new and exciting products
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and operations

DSM Delft is a biotechnological Research and Development location and is responsible for the realization of biotechnological innovations and the developments of new bio-products and sustainable bio-production processes. Our R&D center has strong competences in high-throughput screening, microbial strain development, bio-design and modeling, industrial bioprocessing, application, microbiology and analytics. Our Delft site is well connected to the DSM R&D hubs in the US and China and external research institutes and universities. The Lab Automation & Screening group is part of the DSM Delft R&D hub and works at the interface of molecular biology, microbiology and robotics. By using high-throughput methods, strain engineering and screening techniques, we improve microbial strain performance to produce diverse products like sweeteners, biofuels and enzymes.

You bring

We are looking to add someone to our team who:- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. biology, biotechnology)
  • Experience with automated systems and laboratory equipment is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem
  • Solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with molecular biology methods such as PCR, cloning, and sequencing
  • Knowledge of genetic engineering techniques, including CRISPR based methods
  • Familiarity with microorganism cultivation and maintenance
  • Understanding of bioinformatics and data analysis
  • Experience with laboratory safety procedures and handling of biohazardous materials
  • Strong understanding of genetics and molecular biology principles
  • Experience with laboratory automation and software for laboratory data management is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to keep accurate records of experiments and results
