Job goal

The Components Coordinator manages the timely availability of parts and machines within the agreed quality requirements, taking into account “acceptable” costs

Context, organisation and position

The Components Coordinator is responsible for the availability of parts and machines for the innovation projects within Marel Boxmeer. The capacity of Marel Supply Chain can be used. If on-time delivery is not possible, the Components Coordinator will reach out to the supplier base.

The Components Coordinator is responsible for the right conditions in order to make efficient planning for outsourcing parts, purchasing parts and row material for internally use (matching internal needs and external capacity.

The Components Coordinator participates in continuous improvement projects. Projects can last up to 3 months (several departments can be involved in these projects). The Components Coordinator cooperates in an extensive way with Production, Assembly, Engineering, Procurement and external suppliers.

Task and responsibilities


  • Alignment of innovation/project planning and available supplier capacity (mid-long term planning);
  • Translates innovation plan into long-term supply capacity and sourcing strategy to support demand and R&D inventory requirements.

Planning and execution

  • Defines allocation for R&D strategy and manages communication in case of scarcity;
  • Manages pre-build requirements due to business dynamics (capacity, demand, footprint change, and special holidays);
  • Manages rejects and returns process according to the correct priorities.

Supplier management

  • Manages partnerships with suppliers while holding suppliers fully accountable for supply performance;
  • Manages key supplier performance indicators: delivery reliability, supplier lead time and obsolescence;
  • Identifies, defines and executes supplier improvement initiatives to increase supply agility and reliability;
  • Visits suppliers and negotiates operational issues with suppliers (in alignment with the Purchase department);
  • Proposes and validates logistics agreements with suppliers;
  • Responsible to make the choice either to use “in house” capacity or to outsource

Continuous improvements

  • Identify, create and implement process improvements;
  • Reports load and performance monthly (dashboard);
  • Develop improvement plans together with internal stakeholders;
  • Initiates and runs continuous improvements, taking into account own workspace, department processes, Marel processes and supplier processes.

Planning tools and techniques

  • Comprehensively uses available supply chain/engineering tools: SAP, PLM systems;
  • Uses tools to evaluate and improve supplier performance;
  • Manage non-regular spare parts flow in close cooperation with Service if decided to do so;
  • Support/join suppliers’ visits if applicable.

Job requirements

  • MBO level preferably in a technical field)
  • Affinity with supply chain processes
  • Knowledge of engineering, ERP and reporting systems is as plus
  • Experience with MS office
  • Reading technical drawings (PLM)
  • Good command of Dutch and English
